GPE is offering opportunities through its Inclusive Internship Program targeting underrepresented regions in GPE of Northern Europe, West Africa, East Africa, Oceania, and Middle Africa.

The selected interns will be expected to work alongside colleagues to support them in various roles in the areas of: Finance and Grant Operations, Country Engagement and Policy, External Relations, Executive Office support and Secretariat Operations. The program is an opportunity to network, expose colleagues to global international organization operations and connect them with professionals.

Selected candidates will be able to improve their own skills in a diverse environment and benefit from, opportunities for onboarding training and networking, mentoring, and coaching from GPE staff.

Positions

What you will be expected to do in support of the teams above:

Position Team Summary role
Program Analyst Country Engagement and Policy The Intern will Support Education Specialists in preparing various communications materials for countries in support of GPE 2025 roll out; and coordinate with country partners for various meetings, prepare agendas, take minute etc., and keep track of team meeting actions.
Policy and strategy Country Engagement and Policy The Intern will support knowledge and information management in the implementation of the GPE Operation model and related activities. It will support development, coordination, and documentation of country briefs and grants information.
Grant Operations Finance and Grant Operations The Intern will be responsible for supporting the Grant Operations team in knowledge management, information sytems management, and improving the team's website to serve as a one stop shop for all grant-related documentation.
Quality Assurance Finance and Grant Operations The Intern will support colleagues in a variety of quality assurance tasks throughout the grant application process and support activities such data gathering and analysis, development and strengthening of Knowledge management systems.
Leadership support: Communications EXO Leadership Support: Communications The Intern will work closely with the Chief of Staff and Special Assistants to the CEO and Board leadership to support internal communications on leadership engagement and other key communications deliverables and provide appropriate and quality support on internal communications
Support to GPE Youth Leaders EXR: Support to GPE Youth Leaders The Intern will work with GPE global and national youth leaders to support them and build their skills through a range of activities. For example, developing training materials, workshops, and peer to peer training sessions in advocacy and communications.

Eligibility criteria

Region and Nationality

Applicants must come from one of the following regions: Northern Europe, East Africa, West Africa, Middle Africa, or Oceania.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree and be enrolled in a full-time graduate study program (pursuing a master's degree or PHD). There is no age limit.

Fluency in English both written and oral is required.

Skills and abilities

Basic understanding and use of Microsoft suites and programs are required.

Program scope and duration

This is a hybrid program, covering ten weeks, eight of which will be remote and two in person at GPE HQ in Washington DC.

The offering is two intakes:

  • Fall Cohort (October/November)
  • Spring Cohort (April/May)

Remuneration

This is a paid Internship based on an hourly basis.

Expenses

GPE provides a round trip air ticket and up to 3,000 USD for the two weeks in DC to take care of food, accommodation, and other expenses.
